  • Brodie Sutherland

    Geologist & Director

    BSc, P.Geo.

    Brodie is a Professional Geoscientist (APEGA) with eight years’ experience working in over eighteen countries. He holds a BSc in Geology from the University of Alberta (2007) and has experience in project management, technical report writing (NI 43-101) and project review. Brodie has significant mineral exploration experience including: advanced geological mapping, geochemical sampling, prospect generation and the implementation and management of diamond drilling programmes. He specializes in IOCG(U) systems; low sulphidation epithermal gold-silver-polymetallic vein deposits; intermediate sulphidation gold-silver-polymetallic vein deposits; PGE-gold systems; orogenic gold systems; and gold-skarn deposits. Prior to joining Hekla, he was an independent contractor for several consulting firms.

  • Thomas Abraham-James

    Geologist & Managing Director

    BSc (Hons), MAusIMM CP(Geo), MSEG

    Tom is a Chartered Professional (AusIMM) geologist with over 10 years’ experience in the minerals industry. He holds a BSc (Hons) degree from the Australian National University, and is the Managing Director of Hekla Consulting Ltd. Tom specialises in precious and base metals, including his thesis on the Bushveld Complex, South Africa; PGE exploration at the Skaergaard, Munni Munni and Owendale Resources; and gold and base metal exploration in Tanzania. Tom has worked across the globe, with particular experience in Australia, the Arctic and sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to forming Hekla, he was employed as exploration manager by client companies for six years.

  • Chris Glover

    Geologist

    Bsc (Hons), MAIG

    Chris has over 10 years’ experience across multiple commodities with his main focus being energy minerals. Chris received a BSc (Hons) in Geology from The Queens University of Belfast, UK in 2001 and has gained his experience in various international locations and settings. Chris has worked extensively in thermal and metallurgical coal exploration throughout Australia’s Bowen and Surat Basins, and multiple Karoo basins throughout Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique. Chris has extensive experience as a project and exploration manager and has worked in both consulting and client capacities.

  • Dr David Holwell

    Geologist

    BSc, MSc, MCSM

    Dave is an economic geologist with over 10 years’ experience in the exploration and study of magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE sulphide deposits, including an MSc on the Merensky Reef and a PhD on the Platreef, Bushveld Complex, South Africa; extensive exploration work in east Greenland; and projects in Canada, the UK and south-central Africa. He specialises in applying fieldwork, scientific approaches and analytical techniques to developing geological models for exploration projects. He has several years’ experience as an exploration consultant in a range of commodities and locations, including orogenic gold, epithermal gold, IOCGs and diamonds. He has a broad background in mineralogical and geochemical analytical techniques applied to ore deposits and exploration programs. He has published more than 20 peer reviewed papers in journals such as Economic Geology and Mineralium Deposita and was awarded the Barrick Young Scientist Award by the Society for Geology Applied to Mineral Deposits in 2009 s.

  • Dr Bob Dowdell

    Mining Engineer

    BSc, PhD, MIMMM

    With over 40 years of practical experience in underground and open pit mines for zinc, lead, silver, copper, gold and diamonds, Bob has acquired a very strong technical background, after working for Cominco in Canada, Spain and South Africa and then with Geevor and CMD, becoming an independent consultant in 1991. Besides being strong technically, Bob has also received financial training as a mining analyst. He has been and is a technical director of several companies. Strengths:- mine planning/budgets, selection of cost effective mining methods, estimations and auditing of operating costs, analysis of capital costs and infrastructure for new and expansion projects.

  • Cameron Hall

    hydrogeologist

    BSc (hons)

    Cameron has 14 years’ experience in the water industry, primarily focussing on surface and groundwater monitoring and assessments in Australia. He specialises in the sampling and analysis of surface water and groundwater data and has extensive experience in the design, construction, installation and management of real time monitoring systems as well as collecting, processing and analysing all varieties of hydrological data including water chemistry data. Cameron has project management experience including planning and implementing field monitoring programs, managing drillers and sub-contractors on bore installations, managing baseline bore assessments, conducting landholder bore complaint assessments, client liaison, proposal preparation, report writing, completing regulatory approvals and managing health, safety and environment issues.

  • Jeremy Gibbs

    Geologist

    BSc (hons), MSc, FGS

    Jeremy is a geologist with over 25 years’ experience in the minerals industry. He holds a BSc in Mining Geology from Cardiff University and an MSc in Exploration Geophysics from Leeds University and has been a fellow of the Geological Society for over 20 years. He has worked as a mine geologist in underground and open pit operations and during 14 years with Rio Tinto Exploration worked on projects in base metals, precious metals, diamonds and industrial minerals in a number of counties across Europe and Africa. Jeremy was also a key member of the technical management team for the “6 billion tonne” resource Zanaga Iron ore project. A highly experienced technical professional Jeremy is a specialist in the areas of Geological Data Management, Remote Sensing, Mapping/GIS, Resource Modelling and Estimation.

  • Ben Sharp

    Exploration Geologist

    BSc, MAIG

    Ben is an exploration geologist with 7 years' experience in first-pass exploration programs, reconnaissance, project generation, target delineation and resource drill-out programs. Ben has experience with copper, lead, zinc in VMS and SEDEX projects, magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE sulphides, lateritic precious metal and rare earth deposits, hematitic and magnetitic iron ores and Kalahari-type manganese oxide deposits. In 2009 Ben identified the Mt Alexander magnetite iron ore deposit in WA and in 2011 he was the first to map, sample and drill out several high grade manganese oxide deposits in the Western Earaheedy Basin, WA. Ben also has experience with polymetallic (Cu, Zn, Pb, Au, Ag) seafloor massive sulphides in the Pacific by work with Nautilus Minerals.

  • Jos Hantelmann

    Geologist

    BSc (Hons), MSc, MAusIMM CP(Geo) ‬‬

    Jos is a Chartered Professional (AusIMM) geologist with over 9 years’ of mineral exploration experience from reconnaissance and project acquisition to brown-field development. He received a MSc (2013) from the University of Alberta for his research thesis on the geochemistry of the Keno Hill, silver-lead-zinc vein deposit in Yukon Territory, Canada. Jos is effective at managing and conducting exploration activities, including drilling programs, geochemical sampling with QA/QC protocols, mineral petrography and chemistry, microthermometry, technical report writing, geological mapping, and deposit modeling on various deposit types. ‬ With extensive international experience throughout the Western Hemisphere, ‬Jos is bilingual (English and Spanish) and has provided geological consulting services for over 5 years to several private and publicly listed companies.‬
